What are the age requirements for driving lessons in Victoria?
In Victoria, you must be at least 16 years old to apply for a learner permit and begin supervised driving lessons.
16 years → Eligible to sit the learner permit test and start lessons with an instructor.
18 years → Minimum age to apply for a probationary (P) licence after holding a learner permit and meeting logbook requirements.
21 years and older → If you pass your driving test at 21 or over, you can go directly to a Green P licence, skipping the Red P stage.
Driving schools, including Yarra City Driving School, require learners to hold a valid learner permit before starting lessons.
